Hidden Elements Commission
The painting " Watching over Me" and selected paint colors inspired this client's commission.
Susan's Approach:
Lisa expressed interest in the painting “Watching Over Me” and wanted me to personalize to her interests and the color palette. I went to view the space and suggested the size and colors that would work well in her open concept home. Since the hidden element idea of the original painting appealed to her, we discussed adding both hidden words as well as figures. The resulting multilayered painting will be a source of conversation for years as different people see the abstracted elements such as birds, mountains and butterflies. If one looks carefully, Lisa’s motto can also be seen.
Large Abstract Commission

Susan's approach:
Kristen was looking for a large painting for her daughter’s bedroom when one of my smaller paintings appealed to her. We discussed the size (ended up with 5’x4’) and the color palette of the bedroom. Neither of us wanted a completely matched look but wanted inspiration from the original painting and her swatches. The resulting painting seems to fit the bill.
